F.A.Q |
| 1.How does pointsec protect a hard disk? |
On install Pointsec performs a on-the-fly encryption
of the hard drive. The algorithm that is used can be selected
by the client. Its strenght can reach up to 256 bit of encryption. |
| 2.Does pointsec puts a lot of weight on the cpu of my computers? |
Absolutely not. Pointsec is merely using an amount of 2%-3%
of cpu power on installation. After the installation pointsec
sits in the background as any other taskbar product/service
and does its work transparently. |
| 3.What will happen if i switch off my pc or the power fails
in the middle of the installtion. I wouldnt want to lose my

The pointsec product is 100% fail safe. If the power is lost
for any reason during installation/encryption; It will pick
up from where it was left on the next reboot. |
| 4.In my country is illegal to use an encryption algorithm
as strong as 256 bits. Can i still use pointsec? |
This is encountered in some countries, where it is considered
illegal to use an encryption algorithm of such strength (256
bit). For this reason pointsec has made sure that the product
can use weaker algorithms as 128 bits on clients demand. |
| 5.Can someone bypass the pointsec product? |
The pointsec authentication point can be bypassed. But to
no avail, since the hard disk is not recognised by the system. |

The encryption can not be bypassed in any way before authenticating
as a valid user. It is virtually impossible to read the drive
without passing through the proper channels first. |
